Pollyanna

I have posted about this topic before, way back in 2009. If you want to read that post, which I still stand behind, however naive or unrealistic it may be, go here: 100th Post and Some Thoughts

Anyway, today is election day. If you are anything like me, you are sick of the political ads and rants and everything. As it got closer and closer to the election, the ads got less focused on what the candidate would do or try to do and became more and more pure mudslinging. Ugh.

Brought to mind that old post and this clip from Knots Landing:

I know. I still have the same simplistic hope:
A World Where We Can All Get Along.

Maybe someday.

Go vote.

Thank you, President Obama

There isn't much I can say about our new President that hasn't been said elsewhere, and better, but I wanted to give a big 'THANK YOU!' to him for three words he included in his speech today: "and non-believers"

In the great speech he gave, which was moving, realistic and hopeful, he included those words in this sentence:

“For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers.”

Wow. That is just so great, to not just feel lumped in some umbrella term, but to be specifically mentioned. Quite a day for everyone in this country, indeed.
