Day One: Favorite Actor

Okay, so I have to get this post out before the day ends, since the April Challenge is on.

Day One: Favorite Actor

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
James Stewart
George
I thought about this all day, and I have to go with always great Jimmy Stewart. Whether we are watching him do the right thing at the expense of his dreams in It's a Wonderful Life or watching him watch his neighbors in Rear Window, he is always a joy to watch. And while L.B. Jeffries and George Bailey are two of my favorite Stewart roles, there are so many more performances of his that I love.
Some of his roles I enjoy, time and again, include David in After The Thin Man, Alfred Kralik in The Shop Around the Corner, Macualy Connor in The Philadelphia Story, Rupert Cadell in Rope, Elwood in Harvey and Dr. McKenna in The Man Who Knew Too Much.
James Stewart
Infinitely watchable, Jimmy Stewart is my favorite actor.
  1. I don't know how a movie buff like you could pick just one. I'm a hack and could never choose. Great challenge, that should keep you out of trouble for a while! Not a bad choice though. I can't say I'm a fan of old movies (please don't hurt me!) But he was a wonderful character and totally memorable.
  2. Love Jimmy. Good ol' Brigadier General Stewart. ;)
    Glad to see you forcing yourself to write. About time!
  3. You're right! So often people miss Stewart's range (all the way from drunken juveniles to cuddly good guy George Bailey and the creepy obsessive in Vertigo)--although for sheer enjoyment, for me it's gotta be Rear Window.
  4. For sure one of my old school favorites. I especially like his cowboy movies like "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" or "My Darling Clementine" both which I watched this week. He never lets the viewer down.
  5. In complete agreement. Folks who only know him from impersonations and "It's a Wonderful Life" greatly underestimate Stewart.
  6. An excellent choice! Although I cant claim him as my personal fav, he is certainly a winner in my book!
